This remodel was done for a family we have been honored to work with a second time. Now empty nesters, this vibrant couple wanted to create a more functional and elegant kitchen that features clever storage, top notch appliances and a stronger connection with the rest of the interior, backyard and outdoor living space.
The existing kitchen was demoed along with the dropped ceiling and interior walls separating the existing kitchen from the dining room. It’s dark and dated feel combined with a lack of functionality and cabinets that our clients did not like, made their dreams of comfortably entertaining difficult.
With only the existing windows to work around, we focused on creating a more efficient layout for this kitchen.
Keeping their love for entertaining friends and family in mind, built-in refrigerator and freezer columns with custom cherry panels anchor the kitchen, keeping it accessible while cooking. A wine refrigerator is tucked under the black leathered countertops providing extra workspace to grow an herb garden or extra storage while entertaining. We worked with a local artist from Boulder to build an artistic, yet functional barn door for the pantry.
A raised bar in a black leathered granite is centered in the island providing seating for six and provides a backsplash for the range. The movement and warmth of the granite help balance the clean lines of the modern cabinetry.
The end result is a perfect juxtaposition of unexpected elegance and functionality while still maintaining the personality of the couple, making their home perfect for entertaining family and friends.
