Architectural Draftsman

Architectural Draftsman or Designer Needed

Reports to: CEO & Sales Manager
Supervises: Self
Interacts with: Client(s), Production Expediter, Lead Carpenters, and Office Staff

Requirements:

3+years of experience as an architectural designer or draftsman (or similar)
Single family or residential construction experience is a plus
Experience with CAD programs such as VectorWorks or AutoCAD is a plus

Overall Responsibilities:

Work with clients & sales manager to design and draw plans
Take abstract ideas and desires and translate them into working drawings
Revise plans in a timely and accurate fashion to meet project budget goals
Prepare accurate plans for building permit applications
Excellent communication between clients, sales staff, lead carpenters and subcontractors

Specific Duties:

As Draftsman (starting position):

  1. Meet with Sale Manager and Clients as needed to develop and understand project objectives.
  2. Perform field measurements and take pre-construction photographs as needed.
  3. Understand and apply pertinent zoning regulations as they affect the plans & project.
  4. Translate the project objectives into Phase 1 conceptual drawings that fit the initial target budget range.
  5. Ensure that plans are accurate, buildable, and livable and conform to building code requirements.
  6. Assist with preparation and review of project budgets when needed.
  7. Creatively and accurately revise the conceptual drawings as needed to better fit both the project budget and client’s expectations.
  8. Develop and follow checklists during the design process in order to avoid errors and omissions.
  9. Clearly communicate with clients and staff as needed to explain the features of the projects shown in the plans.
  10. Prepare timely and accurate construction plans and specifications that can be used both to apply for building permits and to build our remodeling projects.
  11. Assist the Structural Engineer with preparation of structural plans and details.
  12. Attend Sales and Pre-Construction Meetings with Clients on an as-needed basis.
  13. Respond to questions and requests for changes from building department officials and then revise construction drawings as needed.
  14. Assist Project Expediter and Client with product and color selections when needed.
  15. Develop a library of construction details for use on current & future plans, paying special attention to ease of construction and great performance for the life of the project.
  16. Stay up to date with new developments in the residential remodeling industry in regards to current styles, trends, energy efficiency, green remodeling, costs and products.
  17. Assist Sales and Production with special projects to improve operations as needed.
  18. Engage in a continual process of self-improvement to improve performance.
  19. Memorize and apply the Mission Statement while performing duties & responsibilities.

Carpenters Needed

Carpenter with 2 or more years experience wanted for a residential remodeling, design-build company. Must be hard working, trustworthy, efficient, and a fast learner with a positive attitude. Must possess a reliable vehicle, hand tools, a clean driving record and be able to pass a background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00 to $70,000.00 /year DOE
