Our clients had been inspired by a recent visit to the Parade of Homes. Now they wanted to live in a more spacious, lofty and well lit home. They realized however, that they weren’t ready to move to accommodate their growing family. Their Crestmoor location was too convenient to work, school, and the park. Still, the rash of pop-ups and scrape-offs in their neighborhood had produced discouraging stories of delays and ever-expanding budgets. They looked to H & H Builders LLC to handle this large and structurally demanding project. We added and/or remodeled a total of more than 4,000 square feet.
In order to create the desired loft effect we removed all of the existing roof structure including shingles, sheathing, rafters and 8’ ceilings from the entire house as well as the garage. Then, we rebuilt the garage, kitchen, living and dining room roofs incorporating new, much higher cathedral ceilings. We added 2’ to the master bedroom, bathroom and guest room ceilings on top of which we added a new second floor. The new second floor included two additional bedrooms, a bathroom and a new study area. On the first floor we remodeled the kitchen, two bathrooms, the master bedroom, another bedroom, as well as the dining and living rooms. The old breezeway was converted to the new entertainment room.
By removing a wall and installing a new beam hidden in the ceiling we were able to open up the space between the kitchen and entertainment room. The exterior was also remodeled with new siding, stone and brick incorporated into and with the existing brick. A new front porch was built to make the front entry more inviting. During construction our clients decided to have H & H also remodel their basement bathroom, bedroom and family rooms in order to bring them up to the new standard set by the rest of the house. We were able to incorporate numerous upgrades yet the project was still completed well ahead of schedule. This allowed the family to move back in and settle into their luxurious and spacious home in plenty of time to suit their active toddler.
About a year later we were able to follow-up to the whole house remodel by building a new Trex deck in our client’s backyard. We also completed extensive stone work to match the existing house near the deck and driveway. We also installed new paving to their side entry porch. We are pleased to say that many of our clients have similarly asked us back to do two, or even three additional projects on their home.
“We had heard nightmare stories about remodeling, but that wasn’t our experience. Our job was finished two months early, which was great, but the thing that impressed me most about H & H Builders was that they were on site, working hard, every day. John met with us every week, and we really felt that our job was his focus. To this day, I come home and say, ‘I love my house.‘”
